How to clean and re-use me!

How to clean and re-use me!

As part of our mission to help promote recycling, we encourage all our wonderful customers to reuse our candle jars and hand-crafted wooden gift boxes after purchase. Limited only by your imagination, the jar and boxes can become the perfect herb box, plant pot, or bird feeder!

The best time to stop burning your candles, avoiding damage is when there is only half an inch of wax left at the bottom of your container. There are multiple ways to clean and remove the wax safely, here are our Vanilla Blanc recommendations:

Hot water
Boil hot water to fill up the candle jar, making sure it’s on a protected surface. When filling the jar, you will want to leave an inch of space at the top. The hot water will melt the wax, which will then float on top of the containers surface. Once cooled the water can be filtered out and the wax to be thrown away.
Freezer
Place the candle in the freezer overnight, the wax will shrink making it easier for it to be removed the next day. When taken out of the freezer flip the candle upside down for the wax to simply pop out. A spoon and knife can also be used to help remove the wax by pressing down on one of the corners.
Oven
This is an ideal method if you have several containers to clean at once. Using a spoon or knife remove as much of the wax out as you can. Heat the oven to 180 degrees and line a baking pan with parchment paper and place the jars upside down on the paper. Place in oven for 15 minutes keeping a close eye until the wax has melted onto the paper. Remove the jars using oven gloves leaving each candles to cool down before washing with water and soap.

Re-use our jars for your brushes, stationary, bath items such as cotton swabs or hair -ties. Our wooden gift boxes can also be a perfect use for planters and vases for flowers. We would love to know how you upcycle our jars so make sure to tag us on our Instagram!
